How do you keep track of all your threads now that you've joined in the game. Bookmarks are an excellent way to do this so that your threads don't end up getting lost and you won't forget where to post!. Most people only bookmark the threads they are participating in within the roleplay so that they are easy to access and keep track of.
Bookmarking a Thread
Bookmarking a Thread
When viewing a thread you will want to look over to the left, above your Display name and above the word Author is a small icon labeled bookmark. Click on that to bookmark your thread. This thread will now be added to your bookmarks. Should you choose to remove the bookmark, a link with the option to do that will be located in the same location in the future.
A word of caution: If you have a thread bookmarked, make sure when you reply you are not using the "quick reply" option at the bottom of the screen or you may lose your bookmark of that thread. You will instead want to click the "reply" button which will take you to a new page to use to reply.
Finding Your Bookmarks
You bookmarked your site, but maybe you're wondering "now what? How do I find my bookmarks?". It's easy! Click on the Profile button at the top of the screen. and next to the Modify Profile option you'll see a link to your Bookmarks! Click that and every thread you have bookmarked will be listed there for easy access. You can quickly see if anyone has replied to any of your posts and where you may still owe a reply yourself.
Manage Your Bookmarks Preferences
There is an option in the bookmarks screen that most people have no need to use, but to help you understand (and for those of you who do want this option) there is the link to "Manage your Bookmarks Preferences". If you click on that link it will give you the option to be notified by PM(personal message) or email every time someone makes a new post in a thread that you have bookmarked. This option can quickly end up cluttering your inbox and your mailbox so only turn it on if you think it will be helpful (and not annoying) to you. By default unless you change this option you will not receive any notifications.
Personal Messages
Personal Messages or PMs are private messages that you can send to another member and they will receive the message in their inbox. Below a person's avatar is a tiny icon with a paper on it. If you click on it, it will allow you to send that PM. Alternatively, you can click on the person's display name to view their profile. At the top of the profile it will give you the option to "Send Personal Message".
When you receive a personal message it will display this at the top of your screen by the banner for the site. ex. "Hey Michael Scofield, you have (x) messages, 1 is new" . Click up top where it gives you the number of messages you have to take you to your Inbox. Once here you can read your messages and reply.
Karma
The Karma system is a way for you to reward a player you think has written a great post, been helpful on the site, or is doing an overall good job. The Karma buttons appear below the Avatar on the left side of the screen. The number of Karma points is listed, and options are given to Exalt (add a karma point) or Smite (take away a karma point). Please do not abuse this system and exalt someone as frequently as you're able to, just to raise their numbers, or smite someone because of personal issues with them or just because you do not like the character they play.
