- LOOKS:
- Height: 5"9'
- Hair Color: Auburn, and later black
- Other Details:
- General: Sara is a tall, slender woman. She has auburn hair which falls past her shoulders, and which she often styles (when she has time) to make her look neat. She has wide hazel eyes, fair skin and a bit of a large forehead. She does not wear heavy make up; it is usually very light, and subtle so that it is not drastically different from her natural look. She does not wear a lot of jewelry; once again, it is simple. It is often limited to a small ring, a necklace with a silver chain and black square pendent, and small, lightweight earrings. Along with her, she carries her large purse, and fills it with all of her necessities.
- Fox River: Sara has a very professional appearance when she is at work. She is always clad in a white, lab coat when she is treating a patient and her I.D hangs on the pocket of her lab coat. She often rolls up her sleeves, exposing her long sleeved shirts underneath. She rarely buttons her lab coat, as she feels she is able to work more freely with it open. Her hair is either pulled back, or neatly in place so that it does not get in the way of her work. Apart from this, she sometimes wears her stethoscope around her neck. She wears comfortable and practical shoes, and sometimes her job calls for a bit of running around. Overall, she maintains an organized and tidy appearance.
- At home: While at home, she dresses very casually. She is often clad in jeans and a simple shirt. Her hair is either loosely tied back or simply loose. She does not dress up, or put a great amount of effort into her appearance when she is not at work, or has no occasion to attend. She allows herself to relax a bit more, looking practical and comfortable. She seldom dresses up, as it is limited to the very few formal functions she has to attend. Either way, she dresses modestly and decently.
- On the Run: While on the run, Sara gets less and less concerned with the way she looks. At first, she cut her hair to a length above her shoulders, and dyed it black hoping that this would make her less recognizable to those who are after her. This made it much darker and wavier than her natural look. She does not have time to concern herself with make up, or anything for that matter. She selects one outfit that she wears for a significant amount of time, before switching as money is something that they must use cautiously. The only reason she has to dress up is when she needs to play a certain role in order to obtain an object or information necessary for their survival, or in order to help them meet their goal.

- PERSONA:Sara's personality is a rather complex one. She can be described as reserved, practical, intelligent, simple, cynical, modest, conservative, independent, and humble. As previously described, her dress is simple and this reflects a large portion of her personality. Sara generally keeps to herself and does not like to form personal attachments with anyone, as she feels that most relationships will not last. She does not like discussing her past with others, nor does she like talking about her feelings. This comes off as cold and detached to some people, and though it may be to some, it is a reflection of her reserved character.
She is a very practical person. Though she had the ability to play more of a role as the Governor’s daughter, she chose a more simplistic lifestyle and does not regret her current way of life. She lives a simple lifestyle, and lives off of what she earns. She is independent (having to learn independence at such a young age) and does not like asking others for help, though sometimes, she knows she needs to. She does not brag to other people, or appear overly confident. She remains professional, and does her job as well as she can. She has a soft voice, and practically never yells at anyone. Even when she is angry, she will not scream; she will just speak to them with a stern and serious tone.
Sara is very cynical. She uses the word ‘realistic’ as a substitute, but she tends to see the negative portion of things rather than the positive. This adds to her somewhat cold personality that sometimes surfaces when discussing certain things. She does not smile often, and when she does, it may not be a sincere one. She is very abrupt and blunt in the way she speaks about certain things. Sara does not like to get close to people. After suffering the loss of her mother, and having a distant relationship with her father, she tries not to get close to people, afraid of being disappointed by them. For this reason, she tries to be very detached from the people in her life, and barley trusts anyone although there are the occasional few who she confides in. When Sara feels betrayed in any way, she will not waste time going to that person and telling them what she knows. She will speak to them accusingly and demands for explanations at that exact moment, no matter how inconvenient the timing is.
She can be extremely stubborn (especially where her father is concerned) and when her mind is set to something, she will do it. She can also be very impulsive, which is both a good and bad thing. Although she is not usually a physically violent person, she will fight back and be aggressive if need be. She has proven on several occasions to fight to survive by improvising with the things she has; another helpful skill of hers. For example: she fought off inmates with a broken piece of glass, she fought off the agent in her apartment with bug spray and a table, she fought off Agent Kellerman with an iron, and jumped out a window etc. This demonstrates the fact that she is not exactly a pushover. She can be emotional however and this may lead to drastic behavior. She tries to think things through, though at some times -- especially when on the run and facing many near death experiences -- she must act quickly and as efficiently as she can. It would be fair to say that Sara is a brave individual. Though she tends to be the damsel in distress in many cases, she will not stop fighting until there is nothing left to do. She will constantly try to fight back, instead of just sitting there, waiting for her death to arrive or for someone to rescue her.
Despite all the seriousness in her, she can also have a good sense of humor, when she wants, and makes jokes to lighten tense situations (again, when she wants to, so does not do it all the time). Sara had won a humanitarian award for her kind actions in a third world war country. This shows that though she may be cold at times, she can also be very kind. There is another side to her; a softer one; one which shows her loyalty to others. She will do anything to help the people she cares about and would even risk her own life if need be. When she develops ties, she becomes very close to that person, despite the fear of being disappointed and abandoned by them. She cares greatly for her patients which shows that even if she is detached and distant from them, she possesses the care for other human beings both as a doctor and as a normal citizen.
One of the reasons she wanted to work at a prison was because she wanted to help when no one else would; she wanted to help people go through what she had once gone through in her life. She treats each of her patients with respect and is compassionate towards each and everyone one of them, no matter their crime. Of course, that’s not to say that she enjoys making small talk and socializing with them. But she is aware of her medical obligation towards them and will not deprive any inmates of medical assistance. Sara feels partly responsible for these inmates, mostly because of who her father she. She would rather have a good night’s sleep than resolve her issues with her father and have a peaceful family.
Sara also appears to be insecure. She does not maintain eye contact when speaking with someone or being spoken too and often averts her gaze to the floor or something else; rarely directly in the eyes of the other person. This shows that she is shy, insecure, and uncertain of herself. Her phrases contain several ‘Um’s and ‘Uh’s which also demonstrates her insecurities. She is a terrible liar, and though she sometimes tries, no one really believes her when she attempts to lie to them. Being tortured a few times, she will not tell the people what they want to know if it endangers the life of someone she cares about. She pretends to be innocent and acts as if she does not understand the situation, when in reality, she knows more than she implies. This comes off as her acting dumber and more helpless than she actually is; in fact, it is a useful defense mechanism. She does not talk unnecessarily and is not easily manipulated. Sara has a delicate personality. Sometimes she feels like she is on the brink of relapsing, where as other times she feels completely clean. Her past haunts her, and the thought of drugs constantly enters her mind. She has been to rehab twice, and still fears that she has not completely recovered from her addiction.
While on the run, a few things have changed in Sara’s personality. She is seeking justice for her father’s death, but knows that if she got the chance, she would not be able to kill the people who murdered her father. Sara Tancredi cannot kill anyone . . . or so in the beginning, this was the case. She at first could only injure them, but she cannot kill them, because as a doctor, she is supposed to save lives, not end them. However, when circumstances escalated and those she loved were in direct danger, she would not hesitate in pulling the trigger, something she has proven a couple of times. She is still very loyal to the people she cares for, and does whatever she can to save them. She misses being a doctor, but she knows that she can never go back to that lifestyle. She made her choice. She knows she has to take full responsibility for the choices she has made. She made her bed and now she has to lie in it.- STRENGTHS:

- BIRTHPLACE: Chicago, Illinois
- FAMILY: Frank Tancredi: Governor, future Vice President: Sara has a bit of a dysfunctional relationship with her father. She will see him often, and there are moments that show that he truly cares about her and vice versa, but his absence from her childhood can not be ignored, nor can it be easily forgiven for Sara. He treats her like an immature child, and she despises him underestimating her. She was however rebellious in her earlier years, and did not often thank him for saving her from a life of prison when she was a junkie. They are trying to somewhat improve their relationship, but it is going to take quite a bit of time and effort.
Tamara Wayne: Mother, deceased: In the beginning, Sara had a fairly strong relationship with her mother. Tamara being the primary caregiver, since her father was far too occupied with his political affairs, Sara was close to her and relied on her to raise her. However, the fact that Frank and Tamara constantly bickered was effecting her family, and it was not long until Tamara used alcohol as her sole comfort. This resulted in her yelling drunken rambles, insulting Frank and all that he stood for. This forced Sara to raise herself, and take care of her constantly drunk mother until she passed away from alcoholism.- FRIENDS: Nurse Katie: Katie is a friend that Sara developed during her time working at Fox River. Sara's lack of a social life resulted in her closest friend being her co-worker. The strength of their friendship is shown when Katie is the only one who visits Sara in the hospital, and feels guilty over revealing that she was the one who helped the inmates escape. Sara talks openly and honestly with Katie, but unfortunately, does not keep in contact with her once her fugitive days commence.
Bruce Bennett: Bruce is a life long friend of Frank Tancredi, and a man that Sara has known since childhood. He was a father figure to her, as he often made up for what her father could not do (ie: spend time with her) and for that reason, she was close to him was someone she could always turn to. He helps her when she has no where else to go. Him being a family friend, he assists her when she desperately requires it, which ultimately, costs him his life.
Juliánna Grayson: Juliánna is a good friend of Sara's. She first met her when she returned from India, and Juli?nna was making sure that Sara was in a good state of mind. They hit it off right away, and soon became co workers at the same prison. They remained in touch after Sara's overdose and arrest, but while on the run, it was difficult to keep ties with her. Never the less, they still remain good friends and she is someone that Sara knows she can always trust.
Michael Scofield: Michael is more than a mere friend to Sara. He was an inmate at the prison she worked at, one she had fallen in love with which greatly influenced her decision to help him and seven other men escape from prison. She met up with him, and though there is always something or someone to run from, she had and still has developed a deep connection with him and unable to live without him -- quite literally -- she stayed with him. Eventually, he would become her husband and the father of her child.- SCHOOLING: Attended Northwestern University, has a medical degree
- HISTORY: Sara Tancredi was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Chicago in the suburbs by a unique family; one in which she was not give as much affection as a child should have. Her father was in politics, and for that reason, struggled to maintain a good image of his family, making them look like the ‘Perfect American Family’ and him as the perfect father and husband. Unfortunately, this could not be further from the truth. Frank Tancredi was often away on business, missing family events and occasions. For this reason, Sara grew distant from him as he was never there when she needed him and at one point, stopped expecting him to come. She stopped hoping for him to show up for Christmas and her birthday, so continued to live her own life without holding onto that one hope. Her mother was no different in her feelings towards Frank. They had a failing marriage and frequently fought and argued about many things. None of this showed, as they all had to hide their family’s issues for the benefit of Frank’s job. The family was strained with the political pressures and it was not long until Sara’s mother resorted to alcohol to help her cope with their every day struggles.
Eventually, Sara’s mother passed away and rumours throughout the community spread about her alcoholism. Sara and Frank remained silent on the issue, but this caused a greater rift between her and her father. As if they already did not get along, they also had very conflicting political views. Frank Tancredi was strictly conservative, where as Sara had more liberal views. This, and many other factors is what led to them becoming so distant in the many years of her childhood, to adolescence, to teenage years, and to adulthood. They had nothing in common, and would stop talking about certain issues which eventually having practically nothing to discuss with one another. This was increasingly difficult, as Sara was actively involved in humanitarian issues. She traveled to Calcutta, India to set up orphanages with non-profit organizations. She also did a lot of work within Illinois, lobbying for inmates to be able to get an education within prison, etc. This had given her a different outlook on life and she was given a Humanitarian award for her actions.
Sara knew at a young age that she wanted to be a doctor. She attended North-western University and was a good student, doing well in her classes. She joined a sorority called Phi Beta Kappa which showed that she maintained a social life throughout her school years. Her father continues to argue with her about her chosen profession, wondering why she did not just become a teacher or something less stressful. Sara ignores his remarks and does not change what she wants to do because of his preference. He still treats her like a child, thinking she does not understand the way of the world.
It was not long until Sara graduated, received her medical degree, and started working at a hospital. Unfortunately, her life was not as set as she had thought. Amongst all of the political pressure, and the death of her mother, as well as the rumors surrounding it, Sara was overwhelmed. She could not handle all of this, and so resorted to morphine. This gave her an escape from reality and created euphoria within her that she could not achieve any other way. She became a junkie and a thief, stealing medication from her workplace. Her co-workers grew suspicious of her and her father had to constantly use his influence as governor to keep her and her junkie boyfriends out of prison. This only deepened the already tense father-daughter relationship she had between them.
Sara continued to use morphine, stealing some for herself and her boyfriend at the time, Collin. It was not until she witnessed an incident that would change her life forever. As she was walking down the street with Collin on one crisp, winter day, she witnessed a boy on a bike get hit with a car. She approached him, but she was too high to do anything to do anything to help him. She felt even worse when a woman recognized her as a doctor due to her ID badge and urged her to help the dying boy. Sara was paralyzed. She blanked out, unable to do anything to save him and he died there. She was dragged away by Collin, but could not take her eyes off of the scene in front of her no matter how much she wanted to. She knew at that moment, that she had to change.
She quit her job at the hospital, not trusting herself to be around her patients, and joined rehab: Narcotics Anonymous. Her sponsor, Shelly, helped her through her rehab and after 18 months, Sara was clean. Throughout her time in rehab, she and Collin tried to maintain a relationship but they could not get along as she was trying to clean herself up, and he refused, wanting to continue his addiction to morphine. Eventually, they both just decided for the better that they ought to end their relationship, and so did just that. Since then, she has found it difficult to let anyone in and for that reason, distanced herself from future relationships, and any sort of dating.
Once Sara was clean, she immediately wanted to get back to work. She felt like she had a clean slate; a fresh start. She traveled to India, with Doctors Without Borders and won a humanitarian award for her work. Another person in her rehab group approached her, offering her a job at Fox River Penitentiary. She was hesitant at first, but eventually realized that this would be a perfect opportunity. She wanted to help people when no one else would, and this job gave her the chance to do so. She applied, and it was given to her. Her father was very against her new occupation, but like always, she ignored his objections and continued to work as a prison doctor. In prison, she worked as a general physician, and being the only one in Fox River, she kept herself very busy. It wasn't until she met one particular inmate there that would soon be the cause of complete chaos in her life, as well as finding true happiness in the end.

Sara sat motionless. She was alive, but she knew there was no point in struggling any more. The rope was too tight, and even if she did escape, there was no where to go. She did not have the energy or strength to jump out of a window again, and so just sat there, waiting for whatever fate came her way. They had removed her from the abandoned place she had once been, where she was being held hostage along with Lincoln's son, and now, she was in an entirely new place and as far as she could tell, some sort of closet.
Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness, unsure when they would see light again. At least once a day, but she had lost track of time. Had it been been hours, or mere minutes? She didn't know...she couldn't tell. She was scared and worried. She heard someone approach. Was it someone to kill her? Or check on her to make sure she still had her other shoe? When the door was open, she blinked a few times at the additional light and squinted, looking at the very unfamiliar man.
It wasn't until he spoke that her eyes widened a little. He had mentioned Michael. He knew him? He spoke to him? Who was this man? She fidgeted, still possessing the knowledge that it was useless to struggle, but at the same time, wanted to move her position. "Where is he?" She asked. Her tone was filled with worry, fear, and anger, but the anger wasn't as apparent as her other two emotions. She knew what happened last time she had angered one of these people. She didn't think she would be so lucky as to be taken somewhere else. She thought the worst would happen, and so did not want to risk it.
