It was 2012, and as the Mayan calendar had predicted, the world as we knew it... ended.
Tragically. Dramatically. Only two years prior to the onslaught of apocalyptic events, scientists released information to the public regarding a massive meteor plumetting toward the Earth. Utter chaos broke out as people scrambled to find ways to survive the collision. Capsules, bomb shelters- all in an attempt to save the lives of those they loved most. Electricity was the first thing that went.. and then, all hell broke loose.
The collision hit with such force that it thrust the planet from its orbit- and on to a new path through one astroid field to another....
It is now 3011. The meteor shower ..never ceased. The skies, illuminated by the flaming rock that pelts the Earths crust relentlessly is like a rain of fire. These masses of meteorite have had ever lasting effects. The Earth has since began to quiver under our feet, and earthquakes have become a daily event. Slowly, but surely, over the past one thousand years, the place we once called Earth is now eternally different and always changing. The alien minerals that broke up during the descent of the meteors, patterns the region so densely that it changed the atmosphere as we once knew it, releasing thick, heavy gases that our immune systems can not handle properly, and putting a near complete stop to the rust and decay of the structures our ancestors of 2012 left behind for us. So dense, these gases flow to the lower altitudes and pool in a heaving mist, contaminating all that it comes in prolonged contact with. Many species were wiped out by this contagion, and only the most recent offspring at the time of the initial event survived to continue their race- each generation since having more chance to survive than the prior. With these toxic fumes, came a change in the Earths temperature and vegetation. With these effects came disease. And with the disease... came a new type of evolution.
And this evolution, as they say, is based off of survival of the fittest... and several of us have risen above the rest to become the fittest. Those few are known as the 'Legends,' having reached a level where they have gained so much popularity, strength, wisdom, and power, their stories will forever be etched into our hearts. Deities we know nothing of except they are called the 'Gods' noticed these few, as well, and after their deaths they were given the powers to come back to the fading planet Earth as they please, with special powers that make them fall under the category as demi-gods. It is now more than ever that the Legends are respected and well known throughout our homes... And with these Legends, these demi-gods, will come a great change. A change so massive, it may be equivalent to what happened in 2012...
